My Oscar Ballot

Since I am not able to deliver my ballot in person to the Crosswell Household, I will have to post it here. I have to admit, I was not an avid movie goer this year. Blame it on the economy. Blame it on being busy. Blame it on the al-al-al-al-alcohol.

Therefore, without further delay, my Oscar Ballot:

BEST PICTURE: ‘Avatar’

BEST DIRECTOR: James Cameron, ‘Avatar’ (Don’t hate me, La. I love Quentin, too, but James has this one)

BEST ACTOR: Jeff Bridges, ‘Crazy Heart’

BEST ACTRESS: Sandra Bullock, ‘The Blind Side’

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Christoph Waltz, ‘Inglorious Basterds’ (One of the best villains in cinema history)

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Mo’nique, ‘Precious’ (You wanna say somethin’? YOU WANNA SAY SOMETHIN’???)

BEST ANIMATED FILM: ‘Up’ (Even though I’d prefer for ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ to win, ‘Up’ has it on lock.

BEST FOREIGN FILM: Israel- ‘Ajami’

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY: Quentin Tarantino, ‘Inglorious Basterds’

BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY: Geoffrey Fletcher, ‘Precious’

BEST DOCUMENTARY FEATURE: ‘Food, Inc.’ (Sounds like a winner)

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE: ‘Avatar’

BEST ORIGINAL SONG: ‘The Weary Kind,’ Theme from ‘Crazy Heart’

BEST FILM EDITING: ‘Avatar’

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: ‘Avatar’

BEST COSTUME DESIGN: ‘Nine’

BEST ART DIRECTION: ‘Avatar’

BEST MAKEUP: ‘Star Trek’ (A side note: I thought ‘Star Trek’ was one of the best movies of the year. J.J. Adams did a great job bringing this story back)

BEST VISUAL EFFECTS: ‘Avatar’

BEST DOCUMENTARY (SHORT SUBJECT): ‘The Last Campaign of Governor Booth Gardner’ (No idea here)

BEST SHORT FILM (ANIMATED): ‘A Matter of Loaf and Death’ (No idea here either, but title seems funny)

BEST SHORT FILM (LIVE ACTION): ‘Miracle Fish’ (Who doesn’t love a fish that’s miraculous?)

BEST SOUND EDITING: ‘Avatar’

BEST SOUND MIXING: ‘Avatar’

The bigger winner of the night will be ‘Avatar.’ True its one of the few movies I’ve seen this year, but its gotta win.

So, there ya have it, folks. Have fun watching tonight.
